Six Arrested

Scottsboro AL- On May 10, 2018 the Scottsboro Police Department responded to a local bank on Micah Way if reference to two subjects attempting to cash counterfeit checks. Officers arrived on the scene and detained the two subjects inside the bank. Officers then learned that there were four other subjects involved and they were supposedly parked outside waiting on them. Officers weren’t able to locate the vehicle outside but did have a vehicle description.

An officer located a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle traveling west bound on John T Reid PKWY and made a traffic stop at the north bound ramp onto Broad St. One subject exited out of the suspect vehicle and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit the subject was taken into custody without further incident. Officers located a laptop computer, printer, and blank checks inside the suspect’s vehicle. It appears that four subjects from Atlanta arrived in Scottsboro on May 10, 2018 and then went to Huntsville AL and recruited two subjects locally to actually cash the fraudulent checks.
