The Scottsboro Police Department is pleased to announce we are now taking applications for the upcoming session of the annual Citizen’s Police Academy.

The program consists of 9 weeks of hands-on and classroom activities. The Academy is designed to give local citizens a better understanding of what law enforcement is all about.
The classroom instruction will be approximately 20-24 hours of police training as well as a 6 hour ride-along with on-duty officers.

The objective of the program is not to make the graduates certified police officers, but to better inform citizens of what a police officers many functions are. The program is also designed to better enhance community relations from the graduates.

Classes will begin March 10, 2020 and run through May 5, 2020. Class is every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. Classes are held at the Scottsboro Police Department court room located at 916 South Broad St. Scottsboro.

Applications may be picked up at the Scottsboro Police Department or online at www.scottsboropd.org. Applications must be turned in by February 21, 2020.
